BONUS at the European Maritime Day 2014

EMDOn Tuesday, 20 May at the European Maritime Day 2014 organised in Bremen, BONUS will be running a workshop (9-10.30 am) titled “Let’s make it really blue – Sustainability, capabilities and business opportunities in the Northern European Seas” together with City of Turku.  At the BONUS exhibition (stand number A04), visitors can learn more about the BONUS programme.  Further information about the workshop will become available soon.

European Maritime Day 2014 information

Dead zones have increased in the Baltic Sea by more than 10 times in the last century

Partly based on the work and results of the BONUS+ project HYPER, an international team of scientists report that the low oxygen zone has increased by a factor of 10 times over the last 115 years. It has grown from about 5,000 km2 in 1900 to more than 60,000 km2 in recent years.
