The autumn news from the BONUS Secretariat

Now that the summer holiday season is nearing the end, it is time to roll up our sleeves and prepare for a busy autumn ahead for the BONUS community! Here are some of the highlights of the coming autumn.

10 September 2013
The BONUS Steering Committee

The BONUS Steering Committee will convene on 10 September to discuss and confirm, amongst other matters, the timings and compositions of future BONUS calls. Announcement will be made later in the autumn. (Closed meeting.)

10-11 September 2013
BONUS strategic orientation workshop

The second BONUS strategic orientation workshop will convene in Tallinn, Estonia to review and confirm the region wide update effort of the BONUS strategic research agenda 2011-2017. The updated strategic research agenda will be published in the autumn 2013. (By invite only.)

11-12 November 2013
BONUS at the 4th Annual Forum on the EU Strategy for the Baltic Sea Region, Vilnius

BONUS will deliver a keynote lecture in the ‘High-Level Plenary Session: environment as a driver for growth and jobs’ and exhibit in the networking village of the Forum. All warmly welcome! (Registrations at www.balticsea-region-strategy.eu/pages/4th-annual-forum)

BONUS European parliamentary event

Hosted by the Members of the Parliament Ms. Satu Hassi and Mr. Tunne Kelam, several MEPs and high level speakers from related policy domains are expected to support the event. At the time of this event to be held in Brussels at the European Parliament building, BONUS will have managed the first year of its implementation phase and will be finalising (or completed) the negotiation of the first projects to be funded within the domains of Baltic Sea eco-innovation and ecosystems. The BONUS call 2012 outcome

Both ‘Viable ecosystem’ and ‘Innovation’ part of the BONUS call 2012 are currently in the grant agreement negotiation stage and the outcome of the successful projects to be funded by BONUS will be announced in late 2013. (Further updates through the BONUS website and subscription to BONUS e-bulletin.)

27-30 August 2013
The 9th Baltic Sea Science Congress, Klaipeda University, Lithuania

Next week BONUS is co-hosting and exhibiting at the 9th Baltic Sea Science Congress with three BONUS invited keynote speakers (Dr. Daniel Conley, Ms. Joanna Gawrylczyk-Malesa and Dr. Frank Oliver Glöckner).

In addition, BONUS is sponsoring in the afternoon of Thursday, 29 August, a public engagement workshop ‘Engaging researcher’ and a Young Scientists Club events to which registrations are welcomed!
