Survey on the future of European Research Vessels - Have your say!

Have your say about your experiences of using research vessels and their equipment in Europe and share your ideas about their future. The survey should take around 20 minutes. It is open until 17 September 2018.

The survey is aimed at four main stakeholder groups:

  • Research Groups/University/Marine Station/National Research Institute

  • Funding Agencies

  • Industry/Public or Private Company/Government or non-academic research vessels/Commercial vessels

  • Technology Developers

The survey can be found at: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfZgCWv3VAsTmHbHgmAtZL4Q9qEN7qEd9iKVYn6RQaa1dekxw/viewform?usp=sf_link

Here you can find a full PDF version of this survey, enabling you to read the questions before going into the online survey. Please note that you will only be required to answer the questions specifically aimed at your stakeholder group, not the whole thing.

This survey was developed by European Marine Board (EMB), a think-tank operating on the marine science-policy interface. Recently, in collaboration with the European Research Vessel Operators (ERVO), they kicked off a working group on “Next generation European Research Vessels”. Further information on the working group and its members can be found on EMB website. The main aim of this working group is to produce an updated foresight report on European Research Vessels, updating a previous EMB position paper on this topic, published in 2007.
