Multidisciplinary course on Risk
governance in the Baltic Sea will be held in Stockholm, August 16-22, 2010
Application deadline EXTENDED until 15 May 2010!
The BONUS+ projects RISKGOV and PROBALT will jointly give a PhD course
on Risk governance, especially focusing the Baltic Sea. This course is open to
all PhD candidates interested in multidisciplinary environmental science. From
an ecosystem approach to management perspective, environmental risks such as
those emanating from eutrophication, hazardous chemicals, shipping, loss of
biodiversity and over-fishing will be analyzed and discussed. The course will
comprise two weeks of preparatory reading at home followed by an intensive week
with lectures, seminars and field excursions at the Askö Marine Laboratory in
the Stockholm archipelago. Finally, two weeks at home will be devoted to
writing a report from the week at Askö. For more detailed information and

Climate Modelling School, October 13, 2010 in Norrköping, Sweden
In the framework of the BONUS+ project AMBER (Assessment and Modelling
Baltic Ecosystem Response) a workshop will take place for Ph.D.
students from countries around the Baltic Sea. The students should
become familiar with the tools, assumptions, results and uncertainties
of state-of-the-art climate modelling on global and regional scales.
Topics: Global
climate models, regional climate models, earth system models, dynamical
downscaling, greenhouse gas emission scenarios, recent results of
transient scenario simulations for the Baltic Sea catchment area,
ensemble modelling, paleoclimate modelling, IPCC.

Call for Joint Training Proposals 2009 – 2011
On January 26th, 2009 BONUS EEIG opened a call for
Joint Training Course proposals. The call was open for consortia of the
research projects funded in the BONUS+ Call. The BONUS EEIG Steering Committee
had earmarked €50 000 to support training courses within the BONUS+
projects and decided that 5 projects will receive equal funding of €
10 000 each. Deadline for submitting the applications was April 24th,
2009. 8 proposals were received, two of which were collaborations between several
projects.
Altogether 5 evaluators were appointed by the BONUS
EEIG Steering Committee to evaluate the proposals, evaluation reports are sent
to the proposers by mail. All 8 proposals were considered very good and
feasible. Based on the evaluation EEIG Steering Committee decided on its
meeting on 16th June, 2009 that the following 5 courses will receive funding:
