Marine Science Contribution to Regional Seas Strategies

Through the adoption of the European Maritime Policy and Marine Environment Strategy Directive, the European Community has addressed the economic, environmental, social and governance challenges of its seas and oceans.
- Is there enough scientific understanding about the multidisciplinary and cross-sectorial interactions to support effective policy and decision making?
- How can marine science contribute to the regional sea strategies?
The seminar was organized in cooperation with European Commission's Directorate-Generals Environment, Maritime Affairs and Fisheries and Research. It brought together over 70 participants dealing with marine, maritime, regional and research issues in the European Union institutions as well as various research and regional interest organsations.
